LIP (Lip) French watch brand LIP now available as an authorized dealer at CONTÉVANOU

About the watch manufacturer LIP

LIP is a leading French watch brand founded in 1867 in the eastern French city of Besançon. As a leading French watch brand, LIP watches have been presented to Prime Minister Charles de Gaulle and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who was a state guest. For over 150 years, each piece in the LIP collection has been individually assembled in the Besançon factory, France, and possesses a unique appeal that is never merely a passing trend.

Creating a myth

In 2003, LIP made history in the world of French watchmaking by once again embodying the technical innovation and avant-garde spirit that have been its hallmark since its founding. The Mythic, released that year, offered a radically new time display that defied conventional wisdom. It boldly departed from classic codes and realized an original display method using three rotating discs. This revolutionary concept quickly propelled LIP to the forefront of a new era of watchmaking.

Reimagining a watch icon

As part of its "Icon Revival" strategy, which celebrates the brand's rich history, LIP resurrected the legendary T18 in 2024. Its manual-winding mechanical caliber faithfully reproduces the distinctive ribbed decoration of the original movement, a design that was imitated by Swiss brands in the 1930s. This model is inspired by a timepiece once presented to Sir Winston Churchill. The numbered limited edition of 180 pieces sold out in just a few hours, further demonstrating the enthusiasm and support for this historic French brand.
